Vermouth and soda is one of the oldest low-ABV drinks in the European repertoire, and Estate English Sweet Vermouth makes an exceptionally good case for reviving it. At two parts soda to one part Estate, this is an all-afternoon sipper that asks very little of the drinker but rewards attention.
Ingredients
- 60 ml Estate English Sweet Vermouth
- 90 ml soda water
- Orange wedge (garnish)
- Lemon twist (optional garnish)
Method
Step 1: Build in the glass
Fill a large wine glass or tumbler with ice. Pour in Estate, then top with chilled soda.
Step 2: Stir gently
Give a brief stir to combine without knocking out the bubbles.
Step 3: Garnish & serve
Garnish with an orange wedge and optional lemon twist, then serve.
Tasting Notes
Refreshing and subtly sweet, with Estate's herbal and dark fruit characteristics coming through clearly at lower dilution — surprisingly complex for such a simple serve.
