The Manhattan cocktail recipe is a study in balance: spirit, sweet vermouth and bitters, stirred to exactly the right temperature. Estate English Sweet Vermouth brings genuine complexity here — rich dark fruit and dried herb notes that complement rye more naturally than many imported alternatives.
Ingredients
- 50 ml rye or bourbon whiskey
- 25 ml Estate English Sweet Vermouth
- 2 dashes aromatic bitters
- Brandied cherry (garnish)
Method
Step 1: Stir
Add whiskey, Estate and bitters to a mixing glass with ice. Stir until very cold and silky.
Step 2: Strain
Strain into a chilled coupe or small Nick & Nora glass.
Step 3: Garnish
Garnish with a brandied cherry.
Tasting Notes
Silky and complex, with Estate contributing dried fruit, dried herb and a hint of baking spice — a Manhattan that feels more autumnal than its standard Italian counterpart.
