If the Negroni is a bright, aperitivo-hour drink, the Boulevardier is its after-dark sibling. We've been making this with Dispense since we first bottled it, and for Negroni Week it felt right to put it front and centre. Part of our Negroni Week Special collection, this one's for anyone who likes their evening drinks with a bit of weight behind them.
Swapping gin for bourbon and using Dispense as the bitter component gives you something warmer, richer, and more contemplative than the original. It's a drink that rewards patience.
Ingredients
- 30 ml Dispense Modern British Amaro
- 30 ml bourbon whiskey
- 20 ml sweet vermouth
- Orange peel (garnish)
Method
Step 1: Combine
Add Dispense, bourbon, and sweet vermouth to a mixing glass filled with ice.
Step 2: Stir
Stir steadily for 25-30 seconds. This is a spirit-forward drink, so a longer stir helps round out the edges.
Step 3: Garnish
Strain into a rocks glass over a large ice cube. Express an orange peel over the glass and rest it on the rim.
Tasting Notes
Dispense brings dried fig, dark chocolate, and a menthol edge that plays beautifully against the bourbon's caramel sweetness. Deep bittersweet finish with warming spice that stays with you.
