An Asterley Mule in a frosted copper mug with lime wheel and mint sprig garnish

Asterley Mule

The Moscow Mule template works with almost anything, but we think it works best with Asterley Original. The ginger beer's heat and the aperitivo's bitterness meet somewhere in the middle, and the lime keeps both of them honest. Part of our Holiday Cocktails collection, three serves designed for warmer weather and longer days.

If you've got a copper mug, use it. If you haven't, a tall glass with plenty of ice does the job just as well. The drink doesn't care about the vessel.

Ingredients

  • 45 ml Asterley Original British Aperitivo
  • 15 ml fresh lime juice
  • 120 ml fiery ginger beer
  • Lime wheel and mint sprig (garnish)

Method

Step 1: Build

Fill a copper mug or tall glass with ice. Pour in the Asterley Original and lime juice.

Step 2: Top

Top with ginger beer, pouring slowly so the fizz doesn't overflow. Stir once gently.

Step 3: Garnish

Add a lime wheel and a sprig of mint. Give the mint a gentle clap between your palms first to release the oils.

Tasting Notes

Ginger heat hits first, then Asterley Original's bitter orange and gentian come through on the mid-palate. The lime and mint keep the finish bright and clean. It's punchy, refreshing, and dangerously easy to drink quickly.
