Asterley Highball cocktail recipe

Asterley Highball

The aperitivo highball is one of the most straightforward serves in a bartender's repertoire, and Asterley Original suits the format beautifully. Long, lightly bitter and effervescent, it works as well on a Tuesday evening as it does for a crowd.

Ingredients

  • 50 ml Asterley Original Aperitivo
  • 120 ml tonic water
  • Grapefruit wedge (garnish)
  • Rosemary sprig (optional garnish)

Method

Step 1: Build in the glass

Fill a highball glass with cubed ice. Pour in Asterley Original and top with chilled tonic.

Build in the glass — Asterley Highball

Step 2: Add garnish

Give a brief stir, then garnish with a grapefruit wedge and, if you like, a sprig of rosemary.

Add garnish — Asterley Highball

Step 3: Serve cold

Serve immediately while icy cold and effervescent.

Serve cold — Asterley Highball

Tasting Notes

Lightly bitter and zesty, with the tonic's gentle quinine complementing Asterley Original's botanical bittersweet character — refreshing without being cloying.
